3. Million Dollar Baby (2004)

The Ending €“ After suffering as a quadriplegic due to her broken neck, even Maggie€™s (Hilary Swank) iron resolve finally wavers and she pleads with Frankie (Clint Eastwood) to assist her in ending her life. After a momentous internal struggle, Frankie finally decides to go through with Maggie€™s wishes and injects her with a lethal dose of adrenaline but not before finally imparting the meaning of the nickname he bestowed on her €“ €œmy darling and my blood€. Depressing Because €“ What is most deeply harassing about the ending of Million Dollar Baby is the fact that Maggie had made it €“ finally she had found her calling in life and she had never before been happier. We see not only her athletic career as a professional boxer stripped of her but more troubling also her ability to function as an autonomous human being. A Silver-Lining? Frankie€™s daughter is finally made aware of the man her dad is. He lost his spiritual daughter to regain his biological one.
