20 Most Disappointing Movies Of The 2000s

5. Prometheus (2012)

Visually stunning, this sort of prequel to Alien came courtesy of Ridley Scott, who helmed the original movie and other sci-fi classics such as Blade Runner, and not much in the way of a script. The trailers for Prometheus - arguably the best trailers to have ever existed in the history of trailers - pegged the movie as something of a sci-fi masterpiece, and that was before anybody had even seen it. Frankly, it looked mind-blowingly awesome. Come release day, though, Prometheus only succeeded in doing one thing: disappointing everybody who saw it. Okay, so that might be a little harsh, but thanks to the cardboard characters acting without a clue, the vague and ambiguous plot that asked all the questions but had no answers, and its highly questionable screenplay, Prometheus felt like a pretty box with nothing inside of it. And here we were expecting the next Blade Runner.
