Warner Bros.Film: Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2

An intricate Easter egg attributable to J.K. Rowling but fascinating nonetheless, the final, incredibly-well-shot battle between Harry and Voldemort in the last movie takes place 17 years after the Boy Who Lived is born. Using the tombstones of Lily and James Potter which said they were tragically murdered in 1981, observant fans deduced that Harry must have born in 1980 (we knew the day of his birth but not the year). This means that the epic showdown with Voldemort must take place in 1997.

Fascinatingly, Harry Potter and the Philosopher€™s Stone was first published in 1997 so this means that Rowling cleverly made it so that the narrative literally €œopens at the close€. This Easter egg may be extremely cryptic but it€™s a smart little trick by the book€™s author. Rowling was able to achieve this by writing the ending of the Deathly Hallows before she had even started the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth books €“ mind blowing!
