The third and final erotic thriller to make this list courtesy of Brian DePalma is his best of the bunch: Body Double is another strange, Hitchockian-inspired film that also works as an erotic thriller, as leading man Craig Wasson - a voyeur - becomes convinced that his neighbour has committed murder. Essentially the movie is a neat combination of aspects from both Rear Window and Vertigo (the protagonist suffers from claustrophobia here instead of vertigo), with a whole bunch of sexy scenes featuring barely-clad females thrown in for good measure. If it's another De Palma exercise in trying to make a modern Hitchcock film, it's a hell of a lot of fun - and the twists and turns throughout... well, you never see them coming. And just to cement the fact that it's a mock Hitchcock film, the movie stars Melanie Griffith (daughter of Tippi Hedren, who was one of the director's frequent collaborators).
