12. Steve Trevor Dies (Probably) - Wonder Woman

The Moment: U.S. Army Captain Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) dies, either by sacrificing himself or simply being murdered by Ares (David Thewlis) or his underling, General Erich Ludendorff (Danny Huston).

Why It Will Define 2017: It's a near-certainty that Steve Trevor will die in Wonder Woman, which will in turn compel Diana to hang up the Lasso of Truth and live on Earth as a human.

Since returning to help kill Doomsday in Batman v Superman, the nature of Diana's self-imposed superhero exile has been a big mystery to fans, and one way or another, the film will finally lend some much-needed context to the character's actions ahead of Justice League later this year.
