20 Failed Movie Plans That'll Ruin Your Day

4. The Breakfast Club Reunion

When The Breakfast Club was released in 1985, it proved to be a major success, one that has remained a beloved coming-of-age favourite for forty years. It shouldn't come as a shock, then, that director John Hughes once floated the prospect of making a sequel or two to his greatest hit.

The idea, early on, was to check in on the club every ten years, following each member as they reunite and reconnect their way through life. The idea certainly sounds enticing, filled with possibility - how would these youthful outcasts fare in their later years? How would they keep coming together?

Whether you think this concept would tarnish the hopeful optimism of that first film, a sequel to The Breakfast Club sure feels packed with possibility, and a great opportunity for its writer and cast to dig deep into the minds of characters who have their whole lives ahead of them.

Ultimately, the sequel didn't materialise, mainly because Hughes and star Judd Nelson didn't get along and refused to work together. Hughes has since passed away, far too young, meaning the films will never come to be. Boo.
