13. The First Task - Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

The first task in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire might be a fairly ludicrous set-piece, but it's also completely and utterly spectacular and one of the finest action scenes Harry Potter ever delivered.

Buoyed by nail-biting suspense, strong direction from Mike Newell and superb special effects, this battle between Harry and a massive, ferocious dragon is absolutely epic, smashing spectacle and easily the best of the three Triwizard task scenes.

This does deviate quite a bit from the book - Harry flying through Hogwarts and nearly falling to his death more than once wasn't in the source material at all - but while the franchise usually suffered from its source material changes, here the differences improved the scene.
