7. In Your Eyes

Joss Whedon again here, this time taking on writing duties for paranormal romance, In Your Eyes. The film, which sees Zoe Kazan and Michael Stahl-David (respectively, as Rebecca and Dylan) as lovers who can feel, hear, and share experiences through telepathic methods, forewent theatrical release and was instead self-distributed online after it's world premiere at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival.

The film never really evolves past its teen-romance trappings, but, within that framework - and with the added sci-fi elements - Brin Hill's film is a satisfying, Whedon-lite experience, and a nice, slim alternative to the Avengers director's bloated (albeit thoroughly enjoyable) superhero excursions.
