If the formula for the Fast and the Furious franchise is completely transparent by this point, that didn't stop director F. Gary Gray still serving up a deliriously enjoyable blockbuster blast, packed with entertainingly goofy one-liners and the cartoonish action fans of the series demand.

While The Fate of the Furious struggles to quite top the insanity of Furious 7 and the central plot twist is blindingly obvious to anyone with a pulse, it's still remarkable that the eighth entry into a series can be this damn fun to watch.

After all, where else can you see Jason Statham murdering faceless goons while rescuing a baby? The series has its style and tone down pat and offers no apologies.
