Ironically, Stephen King doesn't even like The Tommyknockers, having branded it an "awful book" back in 2014, but fans have some affection for it and it's a strong enough property to have inspired a bidding war between Universal, Netflix, and Sony in early 2018.

Universal won the rights and according to TheHollywoodReporter, have installed James Wan and It producer Roy Lee as the team to adapt the novel.

It hasn't started production yet, but the allegorical tale of addiction is ripe for adaptation - as the somewhat divisive 1993 miniseries proved - so it's definitely one to look out for.
