17. "At Least You're Drinking Again" - The Nice Guys

At the end of Shane Black's dark comedy caper, Healy (Russell Crowe) and March (Ryan Gosling) realise their case is a bust, and end up drowning their sorrows in a bar.

March then looks on the bright side by telling Healy, "At least you're drinking again", an outrageously grim statement when you consider how perfectly the film sets up March as a functioning alcoholic, while Healy is implied to be on the wagon throughout.

The ending sees the two boozing it up together in Black's twisted riff on a happy conclusion, the ultimate dark comment on how taxing their line of work is. You'll laugh, but feel bad for it.
