20 James Bond References You Might Have Missed In Die Another Day
4. Dance Remix
One of the things that audiences crave from a Bond film is a memorable theme song. Such artists as Paul McCartney and Wings, Duran Duran, Tina Turner, and Garbage had produced memorable melodies for the franchise before Die Another Day and, since then, artists including Chris Cornell and Adele have continued to provide great Bond songs.
In truth, however, one of the finest artists to craft a Bond song is Dame Shirley Bassey, who is the only singer to have leant her voice to three Bond themes, including Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, and Moonraker. Even though Dame Shirley does not consider Moonraker to be one of her own songs (since she sang it after it had been written and discarded by Johnny Mathis), she still produced a disco remix for the closing credits of the Bond film of the same name.
To date, Madonna is the only other artist to have produced a remix version of her main title song for the closing credits to a Bond film. Madonna's song, Die Another Day - a dance-pop, techno theme - was not to everyone's liking, but the remix that she provided was also sampled during the outlandish party at Gustav Graves's ice palace.
Even though other musicians have had the same or slightly edited versions of their songs played over the end credits to a Bond film, only Shirley Bassey and Madonna have had dance remixes of their theme songs included in the end credits to a Double-0 Seven feature.
