20. Pixar Exists Because Howard The Duck Failed
George Lucas' misguided 80s movie Howard The Dick was an unmitigated disaster, but without it Pixar wouldn't exist.

Pixar was initially a part of Lucasfilm, working with Industrial Light & Magic on the studio's computer animated effects and helping out on movies like Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan and Young Sherlock Holmes in the 1980s. But due to a combination of the Star Wars franchise ending, George Lucas going through a divorce, and Howard The Duck being a huge box office bomb, Lucas was forced to sell Pixar to some guy named Steve Jobs.
That's right, Apple founder Steve Jobs bought Pixar for only $5 million in 1986. Nine years later, Toy Story was born and the rest was history. Thanks Lucas. Ish.
