In the third installment in the already-overtly political dystopian fantasy series (I know, there's debate as to whether or not it entirely qualifies as horror), writer-director James DeMonaco ups the politics further this Purge night by throwing a presidential election into the mix - and making one of the candidates (a woman, we might add) base her campaign on doing away with the annual 12 hours of total lawlessness. Which, as you can imagine, makes her popular when Purge night arrives.

For the first time in the series we have a direct link to the previous installment, as The Purge: Anarchy's Frank Grillo returns, and finds himself on guard duty for the besieged Senator Charlene Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell). No word yet on whether her opponent has any proposals about building a wall.
