20 Most Controversial Film Performances Of All Time

By Shaun Lappin /

12. Charlize Theron (Monster)

Sympathy for the Devil with this choice, it is a film that asks you to understand somebody who is forced to prostitute for money and then kill her victims for seemingly unknown reasons (at least for any sane ones). Charlize Theron is unrecognizable, so close to the original that it is nerve shredding and she is truly, for want of a better word, "monstrous" as serial killer Aileen Wuornos. Her acting makes you shudder and squirm in your seat, as her aggression and unpredictable swings in tone scream through every pore in this accomplishment. No matter what Theron partakes in now, her role in Monster is one that you will always see in the background, just waiting in the wings and ready to pounce.
