3. Quentin Tarantino's R-Rated Star Trek Movie

In announcements just about nobody thought they'd ever hear, it was revealed at the start of December that Quentin Tarantino has pitched an R-rated Star Trek movie to Paramount, with J.J. Abrams set to produce.
At present, a writers room is being assembled to make a script out of Tarantino's pitch, and if Tarantino approves said script, he'll direct the film.
It's an utterly mind-boggling announcement for several reasons: Tarantino has never worked in CGI-heavy tentpole fare before, he's never worked from someone else's script before, and a Star Trek movie with gore and profanity? It's all madness.
If nothing else it's a bold direction for the franchise, and if it actually happens, it's sure to be one of the most interesting and ambitious big-budget films of the next few years.
