Billed As: A remake of the 1988 original, Child’s Play tells the story of a mother (Aubrey Plaza) who gives her son (Gabriel Bateman) a toy doll (voiced by Mark Hamill) for his birthday, completely unaware of its more sinister nature.

Hype: If any movie deserves a remake, it’s definitely Child’s Play. The dated original is still entertaining, but a modernised remake could achieve so much more.

It’s an interesting casting choice to have Plaza of Parks and Rec fame portray the mother, but judging from the trailer it seems like a decision that will pay off immensely. She says the remake “really captures the original,” suggesting it’ll be full of horror and drama instead of the humour carried throughout the sequels.

Since the announcement of Hamill voice acting Chucky, the anticipation has only increased. Hamill is no stranger to voice acting roles having voiced countless characters (his most famous being The Joker in Justice League), so having him on board for another sinister character is going to be a treat.

That said, with the new unveiling of what Chucky – or Buddi – will look like, people are a little confused by the cartoon-like choice. Let’s hope Hamill’s performance counters the doll’s appearance, along with the movie's overall contemporary update.
