8. The Human Centipede (First Sequence) (2009)

Why It's Hated: Because it very quickly became an Internet meme that was easy to ridicule without having to actually watch the film.

Somewhat more justifiably, there are those who simply find the a**-to-mouth shenanigans too vile to even consider watching.

Why It's Unfair: Though the sequels became increasingly desperate in their quest to shock and appall, the first movie is actually a surprisingly well-executed romp, a far tamer affair than viewers might expect given the hype but solidly-directed, suitably grotesque (more in terms of dialogue than visuals), and featuring a memorably hammy villainous performance from Dieter Laser.

Basically, it's nowhere near as gross as you're expecting, and makes a far greater attempt at being an actual movie than just a feature-length joke. Avoid those rancid sequels, though.
