14. The Garbage CGI - Black Panther
That awkward moment when Black Panther makes the Oscars' visual effects shortlist but the better-looking Annihilation, Aquaman and Rampage all got snubbed.
Ryan Coogler's superhero epic is a great movie for many reasons, which makes it all the more inexplicable that its $200 million budget couldn't produce more impressive effects.
The ugliest sequences include floaty physics during many of the action beats, as well as the repulsive war rhinos in the final Wakanda battle, and a climactic T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman)/Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) fight that basically looks like a dodgy video game cut-scene from 2007.
Rampage cost almost half of what Black Panther did yet looks so, so much better. It's a shame because there's plenty to praise here, yet the end of the movie in particular falls off a cliff where production values are concerned.
