2. Josh Hutcherson As Peter Parker - The Amazing Spider-Man
This is a fun audition, if only because of its insane production values. A few years ago, The Amazing Spider-Man was looking for a Peter Parker, while Josh Hutcherson was looking for a major Hollywood franchise to headline. Naturally, their paths crossed. And from the looks of this screen test, he made it pretty far into the process -- they don't choreograph and film fight sequences for just anyone who comes in to audition. Of course, as we all know, the role of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man went to the lovely Andrew Garfield in the end. But don't feel too bad for Josh Hutcherson -- within a year, he won the part of Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games. And ultimately, what are more people going to see, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, or The Amazing Spider-Man 3? Everything worked out for the best. Not going to lie, though -- after seeing this audition, we kind of want to see him play Peter Parker.
1. Leonardo DiCaprio As Ponyboy - The Outsiders
What youre seeing here is a video clip of young Leonardo DiCaprio auditioning for the role of Ponyboy Curtis in the television adaptation of The Outsiders, which aired on Fox for several months in 1990 and never achieved the success of the 1983 film version. He was an undeniably talented child actor, but its impossible to overlook the fact that hes just too young for the part. He might be roughly the right age to play Ponyboy, but he looks small and delicate for his age. In the end, the show went with Jay R Ferguson for the role, an actor who you might recognize as Stan Rizzo from Mad Men. DiCaprio was given a part in the pilot, although hes only on screen for about five seconds during a fight scene. Oh well, chin up, baby DiCaprio bigger and grander things are on the horizon for you.
