Inspector Gadget has been an institution of kids TV to such an extent that it's a wonder that Michael Bay hasn't turned it into a billion dollar franchise that drags all of childhoods through the mangle. It was a great cartoon, and the potential for it to be a movie is huge, given how well his powers and tech-augmentations would work on screen.
Hopefully, we'll get to see someone do it properly this time. The latest news suggests that Disney and The LEGO Movie's Lin Pictures are making a new live-action movie after the success of the most recent series.

Is It A Good Idea?
It absolutely is, particularly if it wipes out the memory of the awful Matthew Broderick adaptation (and its French Stewart-starring direct-to-DVD sequel).
