20 Movies So Good You Ignore Huge Plot Holes

11. Rec - The Authorities' Terrible Handling Of The Situation

In order to facilitate storylines where everything that could go wrong goes wrong, horror movies do often rely on contrivance and unlikely behaviour. It's annoying, but it's something you just have to go with if you want to consistently enjoy this genre's ghoulish delights, as this lack of logic is present even in many of the genre's best offerings.

A great example of this is Rec, a classic Spanish found-footage horror that terrifyingly depicts a zombie outbreak in an apartment block. It's one hell of a frightening flick, not to mention one of the absolute GOATs of found-footage horror, yet it's difficult not to feel like its tragic ending - where pretty much everyone dies - could've been so easily avoided had those in charge handled this situation properly.

The authorities start out well enough by quarantining the block, but later on they do something rather incredulous. They send in a health official by himself and don't give him any armed backup. Why on earth not? Sure, it's an unprecedented situation, but sending in some armed personnel could've saved quite a few lives.
