In Star Wars: Pegg briefly "appeared" in The Force Awakens underneath layers of costume and make-up, playing Unkar Plutt, the stingy junkyard dealer who takes a particular interest in BB-8. Given Pegg's previous work with director J.J. Abrams on both Mission: Impossible and Star Trek, he was lucky enough to bag himself a role. The New Movie: Pegg will again reprise his role of Lieutenant Commander "Scotty" in the new Justin Lin-directed Trek movie, and in addition has also co-written the film. It remains to be seen whether or not Lin can pick up aptly where J.J. Abrams left off, but with the film's first trailer appearing to promise a more comical tone this time around, it seems that Beyond might be training its focus a little closer to the original TV series. This could be good or bad: time will tell.
