Having enjoyed serious online buzz since its premiere at TIFF last month, critics have lauded Argentine horror When Evil Lurks as a possession movie with a difference.

As his third acclaimed feature in a row - following the riotous Terrified and Satanic Hispanics - it seemingly confirms director Demián Rugna to be a major rising talent in the genre.

Critics have generally been vague about the particulars of the plot - perhaps suggesting that Rugna's got some gnarly surprises in store for adventurous audiences - though it revolves around two brothers who discover a demon-infected man in their remote village.

The magnificently atmospheric, visually entrancing trailer certainly suggests a doozy, that's for sure.

When Evil Lurks releases on Shudder on October 27.
