As Benedict Cumberbatch has garnered an increasing amount of critical acclaim and popularity for his dramatic performances, he's taken a few steps into the blockbuster world. Over the past few years he's played Khan in Star Trek: Into Darkness and Smaug in The Hobbit, and just recently it has been announced that he will be taking on the role of Doctor Strange in one of Marvel's newest film franchises. But just because he does a high profile action film here and there doesn't that he's about to go all Liam Neeson on everyone and entirely stop making prestige films. He's attached to costar in the most promising and least cringeworthy Johnny Depp project in years, Black Mass. It will tell the true-ish story of Boston gangster Whitey Bulger, who was on America's Most Wanted after going on the run for several years and was only recently arrested and tried for his crimes in 2012.
