Predicted Critical Consensus: "A reliably game Tom Hanks delivers yet another compelling performance, even though Sully fudges the facts while reaching for dramatic impact."

Though Clint Eastwood is an Oscar-friendly director and Tom Hanks is, well, Tom Hanks, there are two major things working against this one. Firstly, it's clear from the trailers alone that it embellishes the investigation into the Miracle on the Hudson to make Sully's heroism seem more scrutinised than it actually was.

Secondly, it's only 96 minutes long, which is uncommonly short for Oscar fare. It could mean the movie is merely concise, or it could be that Eastwood struggled to shape the film in post-production and it may end up criticised for feeling rushed or busily edited.

Best to expect solid work but nothing outstanding, though Hanks will add a ton of class to it either way.
