8. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

With the Knives Out franchise, Rian Johnson has found a formula that works, and looks like it will continue to work for as long as he wants to continue making them. A genuinely compelling mystery with a different all-star ensemble cast each time, with Daniel Craig at the center, clearly having the time of his life as Benoit Blanc.

When Wake Up Dead Man released in December 2025, it could have gone one of two ways. With Glass Onion not quite living up to the original Knives Out before it, had Wake Up Dead Man been another step down, the law of diminishing returns could have put something of a cloud over the future.

However, though still falling short of the exceptional Knives Out, Wake Up Dead Man was a big improvement on what had come three years prior. With a brand new story and brand new cast each time, the films always feel fresh, and there's no reason to think they won't continue to do so.

Rian Johnson is stepping away from Blanc's world for his next movie, and though there has been no official confirmation of a fourth entry in the series, all signs point to it happening at some point.
