15. Shazam! Fury Of The Gods (73%)

Shazam! was one of the most unexpected critical blockbuster surprises of the last few years, scoring a mighty 90% back in 2019, though it does have to be said that the marketing for sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods doesn't suggest it'll be quite so charming.

There's just a lack of pep and verve to the comedy and action in the trailers released so far, seeming to imply that Shazam 2 will be a more conventional - yet still entertaining - follow-up.

Expect a chorus of broadly positive three-star reviews which net it a Tomatometer somewhere in the vicinity of 70%.

Basically it'll be pretty good, but among nobody's favourite movies of the year, and a fair notch below its predecessor. It'd be great to be wrong about this, though.
