The Airplane movies remain two of the funniest comedies ever committed to film, with a joke count that makes modern €œspoof€ movies like the lip-chewingly gruesome €œA Haunted House€ look like a presbyterian documentary (with less laughs), and those jokes didn't stop when the credits rolled, as you can see above.

The Hitler reference above isn't the only humorous inclusion in the credits sequence, with a nod to some of the odd film job titles involved in shooting (€œGaffer (What's a Gaffer?) ... Larry Gilhooly€) and a frustratingly unrealised tease of Airplane III, featuring William Shatner.

This reference was part of a long-established trend in spoof movies (before they became unfunny ordeals) to keep the jokes rolling during the credits, with choice examples from Hot Shots, including brownie recipes and a major spoiler for The Crying Game ("She's a guy"), and the original Airplane carrying the same Hitler joke and a raft of others. They are far from the only examples from the genre, but the Airplane movies represented the moment those in-credit jokes really matured.
