6. Crazy Rich Asians

Jon M Chu directs this rom-com based on Kevin Kwan's novel, starring Constance Wu (TV's Fresh Off The Boat) as an Asian-American who accompanies her boyfriend (Henry Golding) to a family wedding in Singapore, only to discover that back on his home soil he's rich, famous, and a widespread object of desire.

There have of course long been calls for greater representation of ethnic minorities in Hollywood, and the arrival of a major rom-com with a primarily Asian cast would certainly seem a step in the right direction.

Perhaps even more importantly, there's a wealth of hugely talented performers on board, including Malaysian action legend Michelle Yeoh, British actress Gemma Chan (TV's Humans), and comedy star Ken Jeong.
