16. From Hell It Came

A picture guaranteed to bring out the worst imaginable puns (“surely knot” etc), From Hell It Came depicts the “old legend” of Tabanga, the tree monster who “walked to avenge its wrongs.”

This is 1957, so Tabanga is a man in a hilarious rubber costume, whose chicken-wire frame often came loose and scratched the performer. It also split in the legs during filming, so keep an eye out for the performer’s trousers.
