One of the most visually distinctive aspects of the entire movie is its scintillating opening titles sequence, which lays hot-pink lettering over gorgeous shots of the Los Angeles skyline.

Refn, an unapologetic fan of '80s cinema, reportedly modelled the sequence on the opening titles to the Tom Cruise-starring 1983 comedy classic Risky Business.

Similarly, that film opens with pink-purple text overlaid across shots of the cityscape - in this case Chicago rather than Los Angeles.

Both movies even employ adjacent music genres - Drive opens with Kavinsky's synthwave smash "Nightcall," while Risky Business uses original music by legendary electronic band Tangerine Dream.
