Despite many at the time of the film’s initial release believing that The Blair Witch Project was actually a documentary, the feature was, of course, a movie with a designed narrative.

But while fans believed the hype about the movie and of this strange Blair Witch figure, it turns out that the film’s key trio of actors were also under the impression that the Blair Witch was a real legend.

Throughout the duration of filming, Heather, Mike and Josh all believed that there really was an urban myth about an eerie, sinister Blair Witch entity.

It was only after the movie wrapped did the feature’s stars find out that the whole concept of the Blair Witch was completely and utterly made up by the film’s writers and directors, Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez.
