18. Chrissie's Severed Arm Was Real

Within the opening scene of the film, we are given our first shark attack victim and a few moments later, the sight of their beached remains. It’s a gruesome view, seeing a severed arm that is infested with crabs.

The hand visible on screen is a real one. They originally had a prop arm but it looked too fake so one unfortunate female extra had to be buried in the sand with only her hand exposed.

There is also a minor film error within the scene as a crab can clearly be seen dropped from a height on to the remains.
