As Lucasfilm prepares to blast back into movie theatres in the coming years, with 2023's Star Wars Celebration Europe bringing the announcements of three new incoming films set in the galaxy far, far away, now seems like a good time to take a closer look at one of the greatest Disney Star Wars movies so far.

On the back of the joyous return to the Skywalker Saga that was Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story came along and offered something entirely different - a gripping and uncompromising war drama centred around a group of desperate Rebels whose odds of survival, let alone triumph, seemed to be shrinking by the minute.

And with this well-received first Star Wars spin-off being crammed full of more glorious detail than you could ever hope to fully catch in even your first few watches, this list is here to shine a light on those elements like a red lightsaber igniting on a Rebel command ship.

Did you spot the planet that was inspired by another famous sci-fi movie world? Or realise that this Star Wars Story was actually missing some rather iconic pieces of Star Wars history?

Well, those are just a few of the brilliant easily missed Rogue One elements that likely managed to get past your sensors...

20. Rogue One Is The First Star Wars Movie Without A Wilhelm Scream

Since making its Star Wars debut all the way back in 1977, the iconic Wilhelm Scream had been present in every single big-screen offering set in the galaxy far, far away.

But you may not have realised that the days of the legendary sound appearing in the series sadly came to an end heading into Rogue One, with The Last Jedi's supervising sound editor Matthew Wood telling ABC News that Lucasfilm was moving away from the much-loved scream and "letting the past die" as Kylo Ren put it.

Despite seemingly being retired from the big-screen corner of the galaxy, though, that still didn't stop Robert Rodriguez from sneaking in a cheeky Wilhelm during the final episode of The Book of Boba Fett.

You just can't keep a good Star Wars trope down.
