20 Upcoming Action Movies That Could Beat Mad Max: Fury Road

By Jack Pooley /

1. Mad Max: The Wasteland

Release Date: Who knows!? Why It Could Beat Fury Road: Let's face it: if anyone's going to beat George Miller at his own game, it might as well be George Miller. Assuming the film probably doesn't start shooting until late 2016 or 2017, Miller will be around 72 years old, though hopefully still game to deliver another face-melting burst of thrilling action, insane visuals and terrifically entertaining characters. Mad Max: The Wasteland is reportedly already written and good to go should Warner Bros. be happy enough with Fury Road's box office performance, and Miller certainly seems confident that it's going to happen. How Likely Is It?: 9/10. Miller has set an almost impossibly high bar for himself here, given how innovative and firmly opposed Fury Road was to almost the entire blockbuster landscape surrounding it. Hopefully Warner won't try and force him to make the sequel a PG-13, because it needs to be just as smash-mouth and hilariously bonkers as what came before, while hopefully adopting a starkly different visual style to set it aside from Fury Road. If anyone can do it, it's Miller, but even so, the man has nothing to prove, and a less-amazing but nevertheless entertaining sequel would serve just fine too. Which movie are you putting your money on to top the brilliance of Fury Road? Shout it out in the comments!
