14. The Conjuring: First Communion

Though last year's The Conjuring: Last Rites was mounted as the "final" entry into the Warren saga, of course the IP is just too damn lucrative to let go of.

And so a prequel film, The Conjuring: First Communion, was swiftly confirmed, set to focus on the earlier lives of Ed and Lorraine Warren, with new actors being cast to play their younger selves.

It may not sound like the most creatively inspired next step for the Conjuring franchise, but it's also worth bearing in mind that the prequel sequence at the start of Last Rites, which focused on a young Ed and Lorraine as played by Orion Smith and Madison Lawlor, was probably the most effective scene in the entire movie.

Basically the blueprint is already there, and with Smith and Lawlor proving so credible enough in their roles, it's basically a no-brainer to bring them back for the prequel, which just might turn out better than anyone actually expects.
