Inglorious Basterds doesn't proclaim to be great history - indeed, its unexpected ending confirms that writer/director Quentin Tarantino had absolutely no intention of sticking with the facts. Regardless, Basterds shows how war makes for great creative backdrop; hilarious and provocative, it also gave us Christoph Waltz.
