3. Topher Grace (Venom) - Spider-Man 3

This is a fatal case of bad casting, through and through. In the comics, Eddie Brock has always been a physically imposing figure, which is the exact opposite of Topher Grace.

Though Grace did work out for the part, he's still never convincing as Brock and ultimately can't do much to bring this version of the character to life.

Worse than all this, though, is director Sam Raimi's terrible decision to have Venom's "face" repeatedly peel back to show Grace's mug, draining the fan favourite supervillain of basically all of his menace.

Grace has proven himself a terrific actor in many other projects, but he is not at all suited to play a buff, scary villain in a superhero movie.
