For many, it's simply a miracle that Coyote vs. Acme got released at all, considering that the live-action-animation hybrid comedy was initially shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery for a tax write-off.

Only after overwhelming public outcry did they allow the filmmakers to seek other distributors, with Ketchup Entertainment acquiring the rights for $50 million in March 2025.

Coyote vs. Acme was finally released mere weeks ago, but with a hefty $72 million budget, it faced one hell of a steep climb to profitability, especially considering the waning popularity of Looney Tunes and general tendency for hybrid animation films to struggle at the box office.

And though the film received rave reviews from critics and those audiences who bothered to see it, after three weekends on release it's only just crossed the $65 million mark, ensuring it'll fall far short of an estimated $145 million break-even point.

This wasn't an even remotely surprising outcome, especially with Ketchup being a boutique distributor with limited marketing coffers, but again, the real victory here is that Coyote vs. Acme wasn't locked away in a Warner Bros. vault forever more.
