20 Upcoming Horror Movies That Might Surprise You
20. 28 Years Later Part III
First off, we're operating under the assumption that 28 Years Later Part III will actually still get made at all, following the disappointing box office performance of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.
The Bone Temple concluded by teasing that the third film will see Spike (Alfie Williams) and Kellie (Erin Kellyman) team up with original survivor Jim (Cillian Murphy) and his teenage daughter Sam (Maiya Eastmond) to survive the ongoing apocalypse.
That would be the safe, sensible option, and of course, being able to prominently feature Cillian Murphy in Part III's marketing might win back some of those viewers spooked by the last two films' bolder storytelling risks.
But it's also fair to say that nothing has really been all that safe about this trilogy so far, and so if Part III does get made, Danny Boyle and Alex Garland are unlikely to close things out with a conventional Zombie Movie.
Part III could very well take a starkly different form from the expected, and it's likely to land in a far more interesting place than simply using Dr. Kelson's (Ralph Fiennes) discoveries to initiate a wider treatment or even cure of the Rage virus.
Again, this is all assuming that Sony actually decides to make the film at all, so keep your fingers and toes crossed for that.
