20. Shrek Enters The Real World - Shrek 5

We know precious little about Shrek 5 so far, though considering that Zendaya has been cast as one of the ogre's daughters, it's fair to assume that much of the plot will revolve around parenthood and Shrek getting up there in age.

But last year, prominent leaker MyTimeToShineHello claimed that the film will feature a subplot where Shrek and the rest of the gang are transported into the "real world," where they cross paths with the first film's iconic villain Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow), who is now running a Shrek-themed amusement park.

This is one of those bonkers suggestions that's so wild it just might be true. It really comes down to what the real world would mean in the context of a Shrek movie - would it remain animated or take a bold dive into live-action?

An animated version of our own reality in its own distinct visual style is clearly the safer and easier of the two to pull off, though it clearly still runs the risk of jumping the shark.
