20 Wild Theories For Upcoming Movies
2. It's Set In The 1950s - Narnia: The Magician's Nephew
We know that Greta Gerwig's Narnia reboot will be based on The Magician's Nephew, the sixth novel in the series which serves as a prequel to the franchise and depicts, among other things, Aslan's creation of the Narnia world.
C.S. Lewis' original novel is set in London during the summer of 1900, though if sneaky spy photos from the set of Gerwig's movie can be believed, she might be boldly shifting the timeline forward.
Fans have taken photos of the set showing off 1950s advertisements, and casting calls have also made mention of 1950s clothing and hair styles.
This seems to confirm that at least some of the film will shift forward a half-century from the source material, though it's of course entirely possible this is merely a frame narrative, especially considering the novel itself was published in the 1950s.
Naturally die-hard Narnia fans have their hackles up about a potential timeline change, but Gerwig has probably earned a decent amount of goodwill at this point in her career.
