Predicted Critical Consensus: "Though not a classic entry into the Pixar canon, The Good Dinosaur survives on the strength of its gorgeous animation and lively voice performances." Only one Pixar movie to date has a rotten critical consensus, and that's Cars 2 (39%), while every other film they've made has a score of at least 74%. That's some mighty consistency, yet there's also the overwhelming feeling that with its well-noted production issues, Pixar's latest might only just scrape a fresh rating. From the fact that the original director was fired, to the massive rewrites on the story mid-production and recasting of almost all the voice actors back in June, it sounds like a massively troubled project and one that will only barely skate through. As Inside Out proved, Pixar's ingenuity should never be discounted, but at the same time, this one has never really seemed like an especially genius or novel concept for a movie. Glad to be wrong, though.
