20. Strange Takes A Trip - Doctor Strange

When Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) visits Nepal, he scoffs at the Ancient One's (Tilda Swinton) methods, so she takes him on a life-altering trip that totally changes his mind.

Strange's spirit ventures high up into the sky, across a number of peculiar dimensions, the most unsettling of which appears to be made entirely of hands, causing Strange to sprout more hands from his fingertips, eventually consuming him.

It let everyone know early on that this was going to be no standard Marvel movie, and the eyeball-melting visuals turned out to be probably its strongest asset.

It's a scene that's funny, fascinating and more than a little unsettling all at once.
