1. Scream - Halloween H20
The previous Screamloween egg pointed to the outright connection between Scream 2 and Halloween H20 - each were playing on a TV set in the other movie. It mightve been easier to spot.
The biggest laugh writer Kevin Williamson had when scripting Scream wasnt simply having his characters namecheck horror villains and their movies. The sign of this true homage goes undetected as mere action-driven dialogue.
In the first Scream, as Casey Becker (Drew Barrymore) is being sliced up by Ghostface her parents return home to a house full of smoke and a phone emitting the groans of their dying daughter. Unable to dial out, Mr. Becker tells his wife to Get in the car, drive down to the Mackenzies, - a line Laurie Strode says to the two children in the original Halloween movie.
Fast forward a few years to the events of Halloween H20, when a grown-up Strode tells her son and his girlfriend to run from her murderous brother Michael and call for help. Where does she tell them to go? Down the street to the Beckers.
