4. The Predator
Release Date: September 14
Billed As: A reboot-sequel to the iconic Predator franchise, taking place between Predator 2 and Predators, as a fleet of the alien creatures, now genetically engineered to be superior hunters, head to Earth. A ragtag team of former soldiers must meanwhile fight to ensure humanity's survival.
Hype: The summer just might be saving the best for last, what with Shane Black returning to the franchise in which he once starred, this time as writer-director. Fox gave Black an apparently huge budget in the hopes of reinventing the series as a major tentpole property.
In addition, it's going to be R-rated, and the cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Jacob Tremblay, Thomas Jane, Edward James Olmos and Jake Busey (playing the son of Gary Busey's character from Predator 2).
We're still awaiting the first trailer, but with a cast and crew this talented, it's easy to expect big things.
