Hype: As anyone who saw Crazy, Stupid, Love will be able to attest: Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling have the kind of on-screen chemistry that floats star vehicles. They're both eminently watchable separately, but to combine them and then add a musical element and you've got a recipe for pure, unfiltered joy.

And the critics already agree, to borrow an awful, over-used cliche: showering it with universal acclaim and reserving particular praise for Chazelle's work. Not bad for a film that could have been killed by post-Oscar winning hype. It sounds like the kind of thing people will fall in love with just as voraciously as we all did with The Artist.
