This 50s sci-fi classic contains one of the most ominous mind-bending moments ever. Its when Klatuu, after having revealed his secret that he is an alien to Helen in an elevator, neutralizes all of the worlds electricity as a precursor to what will happen if the people of Earth dont change their ways. He leaves everyone in a state of panic, as we see other countries and cities lose power, and the government as they try to handle the situation. Bernard Herrmanns chilling score emphasizes not only the panic, but the side of Klatuu that we havent seen yet. Thats the real mind-tweaker. Klatuu is a force to be reckoned with, and wed better shape up or well see the full extent of what hes capable of. Luckily we dont, but theres still that what if feeling looming throughout the rest of the film.
