Predicted Critical Consensus: "Another inert horror misfire, Insidious: Chapter 3 again fails to present the thrills and chills which made the original movie such a hit." If there's one type of movie you can almost always expect to be slain by critics, it's the horror sequel. While the original Insidious was an unexpected hit with critics (66%) as well as audiences, the follow-up, Insidious: Chapter 2, racked up just 38%, which still felt pretty generous for the uninspired stew it served up. Now there's a third movie, and the protagonists of the previous films (Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson) have bailed, so it's left to horror legend Lin Shaye (who appeared in a supporting role in both previous films) to take the helm as the new protagonist in what is reportedly a prequel. Expect a wide panning, even though Shaye is sure to give it her all, while Leigh Whannel making his debut as a director is also a major risk here.
